UN Global Compact Board Meeting

On March 18-19, in Tokyo, Salome Zurabishvili, Executive Director of the UN Global Compact Network Georgia, participated in the UN Global Compact Board meeting. During the two-day board meeting, discussions revolved around the accomplishments of the UN Global Compact in 2023, the progress of local networks, and the imperative for private sector adherence to the Ten Principles and acceleration of efforts toward the Sustainable Development Goals.

On March 19, UN Secretary-General António Guterres joined the board meeting. The session addressed the role of the UN global agreement and local networks in achieving a standard living wage for all private sector employees. Salome Zurabishvili was elected as a UN Global Compact Board member in February 2023 and represented 62 local networks for a year.

Following the session, Salome Zurabishvili and other board members participated in a panel discussion at the opening of the annual forum of local networks of the UN Global Compact. The discussions emphasized the UN Global Compact’s ambition, advocacy, and collaboration to foster an environment conducive to private sector progress.
In Tokyo, Salome Zurabishvili, along with Nino Kvantrishvili, Deputy Executive Director, and Rati Zautashvili, Senior Manager of Business Relations, participated in the annual forum of UN Global Compact Local Networks from March 18-23.

The working visit is organized by the UN Global Compact Network Georgia with support from Sweden.
