Eco-innovation entails a coordinated set of modifications or novel solutions to products (goods / services), processes, market approach and overall organizational structure of a company. As part of the EU-funded EU4Environment programme, UNEP, the EU and the Global Compact Network Georgia (GCNG) will be assisting SMEs in Georgia to develop new business strategies/models that are aligned with the eco-innovation approach.

It does so by supporting environment-related action, demonstrating and unlocking opportunities for greener growth, and setting mechanisms to better manage environmental risks and impacts. In order to address this issue and support CSOs in the implementation of the activities as defined in their governing documents EU financially contributes to their capacity building and enables them to effectively implement their core functions through operational grants.
For the purposes of the present call for applications, the Civil Development Agency (CiDA) designed a work programme that enhances its operational capacity and sustainability, supports effective implementation of its activities and ensures transfer of knowledge and experience to the regional CSOs.
The work programme complies with the overall and specific objectives for grant applicants and aims to enhance sustainability of civil society organisations in Georgia through joint solutions developed by CSOs and private sector. CiDA aims to achieve this overall objective through (1) its own capacity building as of the facilitator of the major regional CSOs and business platforms in Georgia such as – Regional Civil Society Network (R-CSN) which unites 64 CSOs from all 10 regions of Georgia; Corporate Social Responsibility Club and UN Global Compact Network Georgia – corporate sustainability platforms uniting businesses and local CSOs (2) and by transfer of knowledge and experience to the CSO members of the R-CSN.
