BTU - Business and Technology University

Founded in 2016, as a part of Silicon Valley Tbilisi, Business and Technology University (BTU) in a very short period of time has become a very successful and dynamic university in Georgia. With more than 5000 students and 200 staff, BTU offers students innovation in learning by combining the two fields of business and technology. Programs bring together faculty and professionals from international companies and universities, integrating leading management and academic thinking with innovation.

Vision of the University

By promoting innovation and entrepreneurship-based teaching, Business and Technology University will have a transformative impact on society, including on women and girls, supporting their development crossing all three – social, economic, and educational sectors.

Decision-making on partnership projects: 

Personal communication, various Calls for ProposalsBTU’s Board of Management makes decisions on partnership projects within the framework of various local and international Calls for Grant Proposals or other initiatives.

Rector:

Increasing the role of women in technologies is a significant challenge. We oppose the “time-consuming” view and stereotype that women can’t outperform men or at least be equal to men in terms of expertise and salary, and ultimately in terms of contributing to the national good, both economically and socially. BTU has raced against these views through its numerous projects on training women in IT and entrepreneurship. One of the flagship programs is “Coding School for Women” – winner of Grace Hopper award 2021 and Emerging Europe Award for Future-proof Education 2021. More than 2,500 beneficiaries have been trained and offered employment support under the Coding School and Fem-tech nationwide initiative, and we plan to reach 5000 beneficiaries by 2025. Our focus is on girls from regions – we aim to prepare as many as possible for competitive tech-related jobs on both local and international markets.
