Wondernet Express Investment Group Joined the UN Global Compact Network Georgia

The Batumi multimodal terminal “Wondernet Express Investment Group” has become a member of the UN Global Compact Network Georgia.

The company’s General Director, Mamuka Murjinkeli, has officially signed the ten principles of the UN Global Compact Network Georgia. The Executive Director of UN Global Compact Network Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, handed over the certificate as a confirmation of the organization’s membership in the network.

“By signing the ten principles of the UN Global Compact, “Wondernet Express Investment Group” took responsibility to uphold and promote human rights, labor rights, environmental protection, and anti-corruption actions.

“We will contribute to this process through acceleration programs or diverse working groups. Moreover, we will offer personalized support to determine the particular needs and challenges within the company, enabling us to take decisive steps in addressing them. The company has already joined the “Climate Ambition” acceleration program, which will meaningfully ensure reducing greenhouse gas emissions.”-said Salome Zurabishvili.

“It holds significance for us to join the UN Global Compact Initiative.”Wondernet Express Investment Group” is deeply committed to environmental protection and gender equality within our organization. Additionally, we are proactively working in the direction of providing various forms of social support.

We would like to expand further in this regard. We are optimistic to achieve the conjoin goals with collaboration with the UN Global Compact Network Georgia and step forward for our country. I hope other companies will join UN Global Compact Network Georgia”, said Mamuka Murjiknel.

Within the cooperation framework, the parties will focus on implementing corporate sustainability standards in the company`s operations. Also, they will cooperate in the format of various thematic working groups, in particular, to introduce environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues.

UN Global Compact is the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, with more than 22 000 participants in more than 170 countries.  It promotes a sustainable and inclusive global economy for society and the marketplace. UN Global Compact Network Georgia is a non-commercial legal entity established in Georgia that works closely with the United Nations Global Compact Office (GCO) through a signed agreement to advance the UN Global Compact and its principles at the country level, helping to root the initiative within different national, cultural and language contexts and managing groups of UN Global Compact Participants in a specific country.
