Events and Meetings organized by the United Nations Global Compact Kazakhstan Held in Almaty

The Executive Director of the UN Global Compact Network Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, participated in the events and meetings organized by the United Nations Global Compact which was held in Kazakhstan, on April 3- 5.


On April 3, Salome Zurabishvili and Dinara Seijaparova – Country manager of UN Global Compact in Kazakhstan, held a meeting at Almaty Polytechnic University to discuss the possibilities of cooperation in the direction of promoting corporate sustainability in the field of education with the rector of the university.
On April 4, a working meeting was held where the participants discussed the role of the local networks and the plan to establish a consultative council of Central Asian countries. Salome Zurabishvili spoke about the Georgian Network experience. The executive director of UNGCNG talked about the value proposition, the involvement of participants in network initiatives and the importance of working with various stakeholders at the local level.
On April 5, Salome Zurabishvili participated in the forum “Sustainable Business in Kazakhstan” organized by the local manager of the UN Global Compact and the UN Resident Coordinator in Kazakhstan.

At the forum, representatives of the state and business sector, as well as invited international guests, spoke about the role and involvement of business in the modern world in the process of fulfilling sustainable development goals, as well as the importance of introducing environmental, social and governance (ESG) approaches in internal operations.
Salome Zurabishvili, within the panel discussion, introduced the activities of the UN Global Compact Georgia Network to the participants and shared the experience of cooperation with stakeholders to encourage corporate sustainability.

Representatives of the United Nations Global Compact headquarters, representatives of the executive branch of Kazakhstan’s business sector and multinational enterprises took part in the event.
