“Promote Capacity Building and Enhance Sustainability of the PPD Platform in the Parliament of Georgia” Was Held at the Parliament of Georgia

On February 20, a closing ceremony for the grant activity: “Promote Capacity Building and Enhance Sustainability of the PPD Platform in the Parliament of Georgia,” was held at the Parliament of Georgia.

The grant activity was implemented by the UN Global Compact Network Georgia with support from the USAID Economic Governance Program. It aimed to develop a sustainable, self-reliant Public-Private Dialogue (PPD) Platform in the Parliament of Georgia, facilitating effective and continuous dialogue between the parliament and private sector on economic policy issues.

The event featured opening remarks by Shalva Papuashvili, Chairperson of the Parliament of Georgia; John A. Pennell, Mission Director at USAID/Caucasus; and Erik Illes, Head of Development Cooperation and Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Sweden to Georgia.

David Songulashvili, Chairperson of the Sector Economy and Economic Policy Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, spoke about the importance of using sustainable and effective PPD mechanisms in the parliamentary process.

During the event, key achievements of the grant activity were presented by Salome Zurabishvili, the Executive Director of UN Global Compact Network Georgia, and Natalia Beruashvili, Chief of Party at the USAID Economic Governance Program.

A Public-Private Dialogue Guidebook for the Parliament of Georgia was presented at the event. It was developed in cooperation with the Sector Economy and Economic Policy Committee under the grant activity. The guidebook will support the members of parliament and staff in the successful use of the PPD mechanism and in setting good practices of dialogue with private sector stakeholders in the Parliament of Georgia.
