2nd Meeting of the Business Integrity & Collective Action Against Corruption Working Group

On February 16, the UN Global Compact Network Georgia organized the second meeting of the Business Integrity and Collective Action Against Corruption working group.

Salome Zurabishvili, the UN Global Compact Network Georgia executive director, addressed the meeting participants, highlighting the organization’s key activities and emphasizing the significance of implementing anti-corruption measures within the private sector.

Maya Giorgadze, the head of the anti-corruption dimension at the UN Global Compact Network Georgia, led the peer learning group. She shared insights and international practices from the Anti-Corruption Collective Action manual developed by the UN Global Compact. The meeting focused on topics such as business integrity, transparency, and the importance of reporting.

Ana Luiza Aranha, the consultant of the UN Global Compact, and Fabian Espejo, the Anti-corruption thematic coordinator, also attended the meeting. They shared exemplary cases of Anti-Corruption Collective Action from different faith traditions and emphasized the necessary anti-corruption mechanisms for businesses to mitigate risks.

Corruption, a significant hindrance to global economic and social development, is one of the ten principles of the United Nations Global Compact that participating companies commit to addressing.

Representatives from 10 companies within the UN Global Compact Network participated in the meeting. The working group serves as a platform for these companies to exchange best practices and collaboratively address sustainability challenges.

The meeting was conducted as part of the “Leadership for Sustainable Development in Georgia” project, supported by the Swedish government.
