PUBLIC-PRIVATE DIALOGUE ON THE DRAFT LAW ON PUBLIC PROCURMENT OF GEORGIA

On September 27, Global Compact Network Georgia and the Sector Economy and Economic Policy Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, with support of the USAID Economic Governance Program, and in partnership with State Procurement Agency hold a Public-Private Dialogue (PPD) to discuss the Public Procurement reform in Georgia under the PPD Platform in the Parliament.

The main aim of the PPD was to discuss the draft law on Public Procurement together with Members of the Parliament, Government, State Procurement Agency and the private sector.

During the PPD parties discussed institutional framework of the Draft Law on Public Procurement: General overview, novelties, new procedures, instruments and key aspects; Public Procurement Reform: towards modern and innovative Public Procurement system; and Sustainable Public Procurement concept.

Kakha Magradze, Expert of Global Compact Network Georgia presented legislation communication paper on Public Procurement reform. The paper was developed in cooperation with the USAID Economic Government Program, the Sector Economy and Economic Policy Committee and the State Procurement Agency.

In addition, the meeting participants discussed ongoing activities to facilitate dialogue between the Parliament and the private sector on selected economic reforms and promote the establishment of a sustainable PPD platform in Parliament.

The PPD was held under the USAID Economic Governance Program’s grant activity, “Promote capacity building and enhance the sustainability of the PPD Platform in the Parliament of Georgia,” implemented by the Global Compact Network Georgia in partnership with the Parliament of Georgia.
