Meetings on the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

On 12-19 April the representatives of CiDA and the Administration of the Government of Georgia held the meetings on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in five cities (Akhalkalaki, Kutaisi, Batumi, Gori and Marneuli). Representatives of the local authorities, the local NGOs and the businesses attended the meetings.

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals are part of the document adopted by UN on 25 September, 2015 – “Transforming our World: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” which set out quantitative objectives across the social, economic and environmental dimensions.

The meetings aimed to raise awareness on SDGs and to identify the necessity of multi- stakeholder engagement. The representatives of the Administration of the Government described the process of nationalization of the goals and presented the 13 priorities chosen by the Government of Georgia.

The meetings were held in the framework of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) funded project “Continuing Inclusive Dialogue on the Post-2015 Development Agenda Around the means of implementation” which is implemented by CiDA and the Administration of the Government of Georgia.
